Oh those wacky neighbors

We have really nice neighbors. I'll just call them E and W. Well E and her son went to Poland to visit their family. Before E left for Poland, she said to Rachel "make sure W doesn't have any women over the house". We both assumed she was joking and kind of laughed it off. The first week E was gone, W looked very lonely. He was spending a lot of time on the front porch with his dog, reading books and relaxing. Felt bad for the guy. The 2nd week, his daughter came to visit, so he had some company. Then last weekend, I was out mowing the grass and a young girl (perhaps in her early 20's) walked out of the house with the dog on the leash. She said hello rather enthusiastically, smiled and continued walking down the road with the dog. At first I thought it was W's daughter. But W's daughter is really tall. This girl was much smaller and more petite. So I ran into the house and asked Rachel to look out. Does that look like W's daughter. Rachel said definitely not.

So about 30 minutes later, W, his dog and the "home wrecker" got in E's car with W's weedwacker and drove off. He was gone the rest of the day and most of Sunday. Sunday night they both came back and W and HW have been back at the house all this week so far. I saw HW outside getting the mail when I came home from work on Tuesday, and Rachel saw her last night.

There maybe a completely innocent explanation for all this. She could be W's niece (although all of his family as far as I know lives in Poland and I didn't detect any accent). She could be W's daughters friend who needed a place to stay. I really doubt he's having an affair for a few reasons 1) This girl is way out of his league 2) If he was cheating on his wife, wouldn't he be a little more discreet about it? 3) E & W seem very happy together.

So I think E is scheduled to come back either this week or next. If the HW leaves the day before E gets back, then we'll be really suspicious. If HW sticks around once E gets back, then we know everything is cool. I just see this turning into the Burbs before all is said and done.
