Random Stuff

Im doing this post PTI style...

Tony Romo...Is he the real deal or was it just dumb luck? One thing I know for sure (shizzle) is that Tony knows
how to make delicious ribs!!!!

Im considering switching my blog from Blogger to something else. Anything else. Blogger seems to be down lately
more than they are up. I wrote a post yesterday about my new favorite show, and have been unable to get it to
actually post to my blog.

Sure Borat looks hysterical, but can it really live up yo the hype? I think the last two great comedies that
appealed to the masses were Something About Mary and Old School. Is Borat really in that catagory of movie? What
makes me believe it is, is the fact that movie studios are fighting to get the rights to make sequels. So look for
Borat Goes to Prison and Borat Saves Christmas in a theatre near you!

I made a nice beef stew last night for dinner. Yummy!!!

Next time Niel and Ani come to visit the house, remember to keep Niel away from the lawn, and more importantly,
away from the salt.

Last week it only cost me $19.00 to fill up. I was so used to paying over $30 when I had my Xterra. That extra $11
a week will go towards new watches, sunglasses, and of course golf clubs.

Bill Cosby chastised those black parents who he said fail to involve themselves in their children's education, know what subjects they're studying, visit their schools or meet the teachers. Some fail to monitor their children's habits.

I don't think it's limited to just black parents, I think it's a universal problem. People don't take enough time to figure out what their kids are up to. Or simply because they are too selfish. The other night Rachel and I were at Old Navy and this woman was shopping with her two kids. Or should I say, this woman was shopping while ger kids used Old Navy as a personal playground. How can you be so naive and idiotic to let your kids run wild through a store? Since when is it ok for your kids to pull clothes off the racks and throw shoes at one another? If I ever did anything like that when I was a kid, I probably wouldnt be around to write this today. It's called discipline people!!!

Gary Busey is the man...

Note: I actually wrote this yesterday (not that it really matters). But Blogger wasnt cooperative yesterday, so I finally uploaded it now.

There's this new show on VH1. I swear VH1 has some of the craziest shows lately (see Flavor of Love, and My Fair Brady). Well I think they may have topped themselves here. They have a new show named something like "Celebrity Paranormal Experiment". The first episode was on the other night and I couldn't turn it off. It was Gary Busey and Donna DeErico in a "hanuted" sanitarium. I damn neared fell off the couch when Gary Busey was asked if he heard anything. His reponse was just so ridiculous, I nearly died laughing. He claimed that he heard a "mechanical tiger". What!?!?

While most of the other celebrities reporting hearing screams, and loud noises or feeling a cold presence, Gary's answer was just classic. First of all, what the hell does a mechanical tiger sound like? And secondly, why would there be a tiger of any kind in a sanitarium?

Donna DeErico was pretty funny to watch as well. She was so easily frightened. I swear she must sleep with the lights on. As soon as they put her in a dark room or hallway she began screaming uncontrollably. She reported seeing and hearing things that noone else (nor the cameras or microphones) saw or heard. But that's ok because she's hot. She even looked pretty good in that weird green nightvision camera.

This weeks show featured fitness guru Tony Little. I guess Tony plans on kicking some ghost ass if he sees it. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Check out the show if you want a good laugh. While I make fun of the "celebs" for doing this show, if I were given the opportunity to visit a haunted location I would so do it. I love all things paranormal. UFO's? Love em! Ghost? Hells yeah!!! Demonic possession? Yes please!!!!

Bunny Theatre

Holy crap are these funny. They take films like Pulp Fiction, Star Wars, Caddyshack and Fight Club and re-enact them with animated bunnies in 30 seconds. My favorite is Pulp Fiction. They have about 30 total. Some are better than others.

Two of the funniest things I've ever seen...

Last night Rachel and I were eating dessert, watching Emeril as we often do. Emeril was doing a show on making candy. In between segments, they often throw up a little graphic that has one of Emeril's cooking tips. This particular one made me nearly spit milk out of my mouth. It read "Keep your nuts in the freezer to promote freshness". Damnnnn that's coooold!!!!!

Then when Emeril went to commercial I stumbled upon an interview with "Borat". He said something hysterical to the reporter who was interviewing him. He said he was very fond of American women with their giant breasts and pointy milk valves. I may never use the word nipple again. Milk valve is so much funnier. Then they showed a clip from his upcoming movie. He is walking around his hometown and he points to a young woman and says "this is Natalia". He then passionately kisses the young woman. He turns to the camera and says "Natalia, she is my sister".

But at the same time, I can see why people from Kazikhstan would be upset at him. I wonder how Sacha Cohen would feel if a non jewish comedian were to make a movie poking fun and exploiting every Jewish stereotype.

When I was 17...

I have not completely abandoned the photo/portrait a date experiment. Just been super busy and having trouble finding time to upload the pics.

Rachel and I purchased a new car over the weekend. When we drove home the new car, it looked so nice and shiney that
it made our old car look not so nice and shiney. So I was feeling ambitious and headed to Advanced Auto Parts for some
car soap, wax, microfiber clothes etc. I remember when I got my first car way back in the Summer of 1991, I would
wash and wax my car at least once a month. All by hand too. None of those brushless car washes. Well back in the summer
of 1991 I was 17 years old. About 10 minutes into the waxing process, I remembered why I stopped waxing my car. My
shoulder was killing me. And I still had 3/4 of the car left to do. Long story short...I finished washing and waxing
the car, but my shoulder feels like I got about 200 birthday puches on saturday. I was also a bit saddened when I realized
that I have been driving for nearly half my life now. Geesh.

To help make me feel a bit more like a kid again, I bought a pair of Kangaroo sneakers. As a kid, all I ever wore
was Puma and Kangaroo. They had a pretty cool pair of blue and yellow Pumas at the store the other day as well, I
actually prefered those over the Kangaroos, but they didn't have my size. Plus yellow and blue are Michigans school
colors. As an Ohio State fan, I can't wear Michigan colors. Ahhh who am I kidding? If they had my size I would have
bought them. Anyway, the old Kangaroo sneakers used to have little pouches built it. If I remember correctly, they
used to be located on the side of the sneaker. On the new sneakers, the hidden pouch is located in the tongue of the
shoe. Perfect for hiding crack cocaine or pocket change.

I saw this story yesterday on ESPN about a guy named Willie Mays Aikens. He used to play for the Kansas City Royals
back in the George Brett era. He is the only person in MLB history to ever hit multiple home runs in multiple games
of the same World Series. I believe he hit two HR's in game 1 and two more in game 4. Anyway, Willie has been locked
up in a federal penatentiary for the last 14 years for selling crack cocaine. Cal Ripken Jr. is trying to get Willie
released early. Apparantly during the 80's, President Reagan came down hard on people who distributed crack cocaine in
an effort to try to stop its use. Willie distributed a small amount to an undercover agent, but the penalties for crack
distrubution were alot more severe that if you were caught selling powder cocaine. So he was sentenced to 20 years.

I sort of have mixed feelings about this story. While I think the punishment by todays standards are a bit severe,
I don't think he should be released early simply because he is a "celebrity". People kill their spouses and don't
get twenty years anymore, but I think that tends to be why crime and violence is so rampant. But at the same time,
crack cocaine use is still a big problem. So maybe more jail time isn't the solution. People who get
released from prison after a drug conviction fall often fall into the same traps that put them in jail in the first
place. Partially because most employers don't want to hire convicted fellons, and because of the addictive nature
of drugs. So there is no simple answer.

On a lighter note, Nightmare Before Christmas 3D was awesome. I love the original movie, but seeing it in a theatre in 3D adds
so much more to it. I was a little frightened when we got to the theatre and the lobby was filled with dozens of people dressed
like characters from the movie. But it was a well behaved audience. Disney advertised a few other movies they will be releasing in 3D.
I've always thought 3D was sortof dumb, but the way it was done on Nightmare wasn't the typically cheesy 3D where stuff comes flying
into the audience. The way it was done for Nightmare added a lot of depth and symetry to the movie. Really makes you forget you are
watching an animated film. Truly amazing work. Im hoping they release a 3D version of Nightmare along with the glasses on DVD. I think
this could be the next big thing in movies. We already have high definition video and digital audio, so adding 3D seems like it would
really draw fans to a movie. I don't know if the effect will be the same watching at home. Seeing it on a giant theatre screen is so
much more impressive. So that could be another reason the movie industry would want to use 3D technology. A lot of people (myself included)
rarely go to movie theatres anymore. It's cheaper, and less of a hastle to see a movie at home when it's released on DVD.

Future photos of the day will feature the awesome 3D glasses from the movie as well as the "tight" new Kangaroos. Ill try to upload some photos
tonight. Thanks to everyone for the calls, cards and well wishes for my birthday.

Not sure how accurate the map is, but the link above is a pretty detailed map of Springfield USA. The fictional town where the Simpsons live. I'm sure hard core fans of the show will find some errors, but I thought it was pretty cool.

A few random thoughts

I think the Yankees may be the team with the curse lately.

As scary and sad as the whole Corey Lidle story is, how scary is it to think this could happen to a team plane. Imagine if a professional team in any sport were to
have their team plane crash. It's bound to happen some day.

Hrmmm the Tigers seem to be overpowering the A's as well. So maybe the Yankees losing to them wasn't such a fluke after all.Maybe they are legit. Generally the team the Yankees lose to is the team that ends up winning the World Series. Last year was the exception.

The Lost season premier was awesome last week. Last nights episode not so much. Just a filler episode about the Korean couple on the island.

30 Rock is a funny show. Alec Baldwin had one of the greatest lines I've ever heard "5 inches, but it's thick". Tracey Morgan also had a funny line. They are in a fancy restaurant and he asks the waiter for an apple juice. The waiter politely tells Tracey they don't serve apple juice. Tracey says "Ok, vodka and tonic". And Tina Fey was both funny and hot. Huh huh and she said the word weiner!!!!

Nip/Tuck used to have a lot of barely dressed women on the show. This season it's been a lot of man ass. I'm not sure I want to continue watching. There was a shower scene between Dr. Troy and Mario Lopez at the gym, that was just bizarre. And yes that Mario Lopez (Slater).

Carmen Elektra started doing ads for Ritz Camera. That moves her way down in the coolness scale. Scarlette Johansen is nipping at Carmens heals for #4 on the squilky's top 482 hottest woman list. FYI #482 is Rosie O'Donnell.

Read a cool article about photo a day. Seems like a great idea. I know I get a kick out of looking at old photos. Seeing the wacky clothes and hair people had. Although I find it hard to be as bold as this guy suggests. I would never whip out my camera and start taking photos of a person I just met, or someone I encounter at a restaurant or store. But it would make for a more interesting photo a day. Here's the article

That Geico Caveman Song

I'm a big fan of that comercial with the Geico caveman walking through the airport. The song that plays in the commercial is great. So I did a little research and it's a song by Royksopp called Remind Me. The video is pretty cool too. Not as cool as a caveman in an airport, but cool none the less. CHECK IT!

One is called "October 2006", the other is called "Self Portraits". I've added some seasonal photos to the October set, and a self portrait in the set called self portrair (duh). Every day for the next month, two months, year or whenver I get bored with it, I am going to do a self portrait. Some days like today, I may be a little "scruffy", some days I may be clean shaven, some days I may be wearing a hat, somedays I may be wearing a disguise, some days, I could be completely nude (not really). Some days I could be inside, somedays I could be outside. You get the idea. To view October click HERE

Here's day 1 of the self portrait experiment.

What's up with Google?

Google has special graphics for every wacky holiday out there. So why no special graphics for Columbus Day? If it's "national eat a ham sandwhich day" they would have a graphic of some cartoon character eating an oversized hoagie. But if you "discover" America no special graphics for you!?!?! Same on you Google. Shame Shame!!!

Jack in 3D

I saw a commercial that got me really fired up. Disney is re-released Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D!!! Nightmare is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's only playing at select theatres. You can get a listing by going here and typing in your zip code.

It opens on October 20th, just in time for my birthday!!! WOOHOO!!

I know it's only one loss...

I know it's only one loss, but it was a home loss. I think the Tigers beating the Yankees yesterday really changes the whole dynamic of the ALDS. Obviously if you are in a 2-0 situation like the Mets, Cards and A's, you are in great shape. But with Randy Johnson pitching tonight, with a bad back, in cold, damp Detroit, I don't like the Yankees chances at all. It's supposed to be around 50 degrees at game time. Randy Johnson usually doesn't pitch well in cold weather. Factor in a herniated disk in his back, and I don't see him doing very well at all. I see Maglio Ordonez and Pudge Rodriguez taking Randy deep. What could save the Yankees is the fact that the Tigers have a fossil pitching for them as well. I think if the Yankees lose tonight, the series is over. I think if the series goes to 5 games, the Yankees lose. Verlander looked just about unhittable yesterday. If it comes down to game 5, and Jim Leland puts Verlander on the mound, I don't like the Yankees chances. It's times like this where I really miss big game pitchers like Andy Pettitte, Roger Clemens and David Cone. They always seemed to be able to "stop the bleeding" when the Yankees needed a big win. The middle 3 in the Yankees lineup yesterday were a combined 0-11 with 7 strikeouts.

Why am I so stressed out? Because I don't feel like the millionaires suiting it up in pinstripes are stressed out. Sans Jeter, Posada, Rivera and Matsui they don't seem to care. If it were up to me and I were manager I would sit Sheffield, A-Rod and Giambi and put in Cabrerra, Cairo and Philips in their place. Im pretty sure if you put those three in there, they will get at least 1 hit. And Im pretty sure Miguel Cauro won't make 3 throwing errors in one game like Mr. Headcase has been known to do. Even if they don't get a hit, you are no worse off. They at least have heart and play 100% all the time. And what the hell happened to Robinson Cano? The guy finished like 3 or 4 points back of winning the batting title. He goes 0-4 in both games so far. He left 6 men in scoring position yesterday. Had he knocked just one of those runs in, we could be looking at 2-0 series lead for the Yankees.

COME ON!!!!! LETS GO YANKEES!!!!

I know it's only one game...

I know it's only one game, but it's hard not be excited, real excited, after watching the way the Yankees played last night. The Yankees managed to score 8 runs while two of their biggest bats, Matsui and Cano both went 0-4. But the top of the lineup was pretty amazing. And Bobby Abreau just continues to impress me. He has that Paul O'Neill/Tino Martinez intensity about him.

Despite the fact that the Yankees won by 4 runs, the game was on the line a few times. Luckily for the Yankees, most of the Tigers rallies happened with two outs. And when the Tigers had runners in scoring position, they were able to get double plays or pop outs to get out of the inning. Hopefully Mike Mussina can continue where Chien Meng Wang left off last night.

And what can be said about Jeter going 5 for 5. I think Abreau said it best:
"He's a gamer, he's a leader, and you can learn a lot of things from him," said Abreu, who referred to Jeter as "amazing" three times in a span of 38 words.

The division series scares me more than the championship series and world series because it's such a short series. If you fall behind by two games, you're back is really against the wall. So the Yankees jumping all over the Tigers pitching was a really good sign. Especially since Tigers Manager Jim Leland said he chose his starting pitcher because he was tough on lefties. Abreau and Giambi hit him pretty hard. If they win tonight, they will be in really good shape obviously. But I think that's the position you would like to be in before going to Detroit for games 3 and 4.

Some quick bullet points about last nights game:

Virtual Tommy Lasorda is creepy

Glad to see Rudy Guilliani still has a special field box setup for him. I wonder how that will change when he is president

I still don't like Tim "FRY-DAY" McCarver. He's the poster child of corniness

I want to stab myself in the ears when I hear Joe Buck. I'm glad tonights game is on ESPN so I don't have to hear him yap for 4 hours. What is Fox's love affair with Joe all about?

I feel bad for Bernie Williams. I know it must be killing him to sit on the bench. I wondered why Torre didn't start Bernie who is a switch hitter over Matsui. I think Bernie as a right against the left hander would have been a good matchup

Maglio Ordonez has some of the gayest hair I've ever seen

Larry Bowa is a little crazy

I liked Tommy Lasorda until his commercial where he says "This is the time of year to beat the Yankees!". Screw you, you roley poley pasta eating bastard

My head is going to explode

This is a great time of year. There is great television to be watched, plenty of football on TV, the weather
is awesome (80 during the day, 60 at night), and the baseball playoffs are about to begin!!!

I used to think having a DVR was a good thing. But now, it just seems to feed my addiction to television. I already
watch Prison Break, House, Lost, The Office, CSI, 24, Nip/Tuck (though I'm losing interest), Rescue Me (best show on TV),
Family Guy, and The Shield. This year I've added new shows like Jericho, Heroes, and Till Death to the mix. Plus there
is a new show called The 9 which premiers tonight that looks awesome. My DVR is going to have smoke coming out of it.
I am so psyched for the premier of Lost tomorrow night!!!

I was reading the experts picks on CBS SPortsline for the baseball playoffs. All 4 of the reporters predict the Yankees
to advance to the ALCS. 3 of the 4 writers choose the Yankees as AL champs. 3 of the 4 writers predict the Yankees
to win the World Series. 3 of the 4 writers have the Yankees and Mets meeting in a Subway Series!.
I am cautiously optimistic with the Yankees. The fact that they lost their final two games worries me a bit.
When their offense kicks in, they are like a well oiled machine. Damon, Jeter,
Abreu, Giambi, A-Rod, Matsui, Sheffield, Cano, and Posada. And that still leaves Bernie Williams, Melky Cabrera, Miguel Cairo
and Andy Philips on the bench!!! Their starting pitching is pretty good, their middle relief is shakey, their closer, when
healthy is just about unbeatable. I have announced to my family in NY that if the Mets somehow manage to beat the Yankees in the
World Series, I will not be visiting this holiday season. My personal picks are the Yankees in the AL and the Dodgers in the NL.

Recently watched Lucky # Sleven. The movie has some of my favorite actors like Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley in it. So I had to
see it. Lucie Lu who usually doesn't do it for me, is really hot in this movie. Morgan Freeman as usual was smooth, sophisticated and mysterious.
I hope someday I can be half as cool as ol' Morgan. The beginning was a little slow, and quite off, but it picks up from there. The movie definitely
will leave you guessing.I give it 4 out 5 stars. One of the better movies I've seen in a while. We've watched some real stinkers lately.

So last night, I get home from work and my neighbor comes out and asks me if I could drive him to the car dealership to pick up his new car. My neighbor
is a middle aged, balding guy from Poland. A super nice guy, with a nice wife, a daughter in med school and a son in his senior year of college. He drives a Ford
Aerostar van, so I figured he would go the same route. Either getting a van, or an SUV. So we pull up to the dealership and we are greated by the sales
person who sold him his new wheels. Much to my surprise he handed him the keys to a 2006 Mustang GT convertable. SWEET!!!! Im so jealous. I'm not a big Ford
fan, but the new Mustangs are awesome. I can't wait for my midlife crisis ;-).

It was a nice warm day yesterday. Supposed to be even warmer today. On my way home from work, I pass a high school. Well I get about 1/4 mile from the High
School and traffic comes to a crawl like we are in a damn parade. Strange, since traffic had been light up to this point. As I get closer to the school, I
realized what the slow down was about. The kids from the high school were outside running laps around the school property. Im sure it was mostly dirty old men
like myself slowing down. But Im sure there were a couple of "cougars" looking at the young boys as well. Damn, I don't remember girls looking like that when I
went to High School. Puclic school gools are cool!!!

Check out squilkyphoto. I've actually started adding pictures again...
