'Nawlin's

Last nights game on Monday Night Football, was pretty emotional. I thought U2 and Green Day did a geat job before the game. They obviously got people pumped up. The Saints looked pretty charged all game long.

This is the first I saw of Reggie HW Bush as a Saint. I was impressed with two things from him. 1) Whenever the camera showed him on the sideline, he was watching the game very closely. It's like he's trying to learn every little bit he can. I like to see that in a young player. He seems very humble and down to earth. I like to see that in a young player as well. 2) He's quite a bit bigger than I thought. I guess with all the comparisons to Barry Sanders, I just assumed he was small like Barry.

I was surprised that George H Bush tossed the coin. I was expecting "W" to be there.

I think the Superdome looks better than ever. I enjoyed seeing all the dramatic photos from a year ago. There was one particular shot that was very powerful. It was rays of sun coming in through the holes in the dome ceiling.

I love how the "crawl" on ESPN dummies things down for the average joe. They write spleenectomy (removal of his spleen). Doesn't everyone know that ectomy means removal of. Or was someone sitting there thinking "Damn, I think they gave Chris Simms a second spleen!!!"

After watching Michael Vick last night, my opinion of him still hasn't changed. He's an amazing athlete, but an AWFUL quarterback.

You ever notice that Jacksonville Jags coach Jack DelRio looks just like American Dad?

The Madden curse strikes again!! Or was it that awesome defense of the Giants? Nah, must be the curse!

I've finally won in fantasy football!!! I actually was the high scorer this week in my league with 122 points. Thank you Clinton Portis and Carson Palmer. I love football players with initials CP!!!

We're # 3!!!!

The highly coveted 3rd place bowling tournament trophy. 3rd place out of 32 teams. I'm kind of impressed with my team.

What is he thinking?

I was reading that President Bush is going to flip the coin for the toss before the Saints game tomorrow night. The media has lead the masses to hate the president as it is. So why would the president decide to show up at a place he is obviously going to be booed at? It just doesn't make any sense. But maybe that's what makes him such a good president. He doesn't care what the public thinks, he does what he feels is right. Or maybe that's why his approval rating is so low.

Gas is down to $2.09 here in northern Virginia. YEAH!!! Maybe I won't have to get rid of my Xterra after all.

9 AL East championships in a row for the Yankees. Not too shabby.

I've done a 180 on Bobby Abreau. I didn't think he was a good match for the Yankees when they signed him back in July. But he has been awesome since joining the Yankees. The guy seems to always be on base. He gets lots of key hits and I think he fills a gap that has been missing on the Yankees since the departure of Paul O'Neill.

Ohio State looks like the real deal this year. Go Buckeyes!!!!

On Wednesday night, it dropped down to 41 degrees here. This afternoon it's 84 and humid as hell. Geesh.

Rachel is obsessed with scarecrows.

Japanese Gardens...

The other day, Rachel and I took a little day trip down to the Japanese Gardens in Richmond. I hadn't spent too much time in Richmond, mostly just in passing. I was pretty impressed by the city as a whole. Since it's the state capital, it has much more of a city feel to it. There are a lot of colleges in the area, so there are lots of cool little shops, cafe's, book stores and stuff like that. I would definitely like to go back for more exploring.

A friend of Rachel's recommend going down to see the gardens. Rachel and I planned to go down over the summer, but the weather never seemed to cooperate. It was either 100 degrees or raining. So we finally caught a break and had great weather. Temperatures in the upper 70's, and a nice breeze. Made for a lovely day. The gardens are located inside of a 100 acre park. The park has a really nice lake, which is where we unpacked our lunch and ate.

Here are some of my favorite pics from the day there. The pictures don't do it justice. I kept waiting for Mr. Miagi to walk out and kick my ass. "What are you doing in my backyard!!! HAAAAYAAA!!!!" It was pretty amazing.

I could always be a gardener...

Ya know if this whole computer career doesn't work out, I think I'll work at a golf course as a grounds keeper. So this spring the grass in my front yard looked like crap. The people who lived here before us never really took care of the lawn. So I took it upon myself to try to grow a nice, thick, green lawn. After a long, dry, hot summer, look at how green and lush it is!!! I used Pebble Beach grass seed, and Scotts turf builder fertalizer. Plus a secret ingredient....

Rockstar

I had two fantasy football drafts going on last night, so I had Rockstar on in the background and wasn't really watching. But I was pretty impressed by the stage presence of Lukas last night. I've never really liked him, but he looked very confident performing his original song last night. But I still think Toby is the best one of the show. That original song he did last night was such a great song! OH OH OAHH OAHH OH!!!And Toby just looks like a Rockstar when he is on the stage. He doesn't seem like he's trying, he just gets up there and pulls it off week after week. Supernova would be really dumb if they passed on Toby. We need more guys like Tony around to rejuvinate rock music. But Im still not sure why Tommy was trying to grab Toby's ass. I don't think Vince Neil would let him get away with that crap ;-).

I thought Storm and Magni sucked last night. Storm is really dumb trying to butch up her look by tucking her hair up under her hat. The fact that she's a hot girl is a big reason why she is still on the show.

Last night was also the premier of season 4 of Nip/Tuck. I've watched Nip/Tuck since the middle of season 1. This premier was definitely out there. It's amazing to me that great shows like Rescue Me, the Shield and Nip Tuck are stuck on a crappy network like FX. They would be so much better if they were available in HD on FOX. Nip/Tuck is a very visual show, so it really loses something by broadcasting such crappy quality.
