Random Thoughts...

Hope everyone had a nice Independence Day weekend. Remember it's the 4th of July everywhere in the world, but it's INDEPENDENCE DAY here in America. Call it as such! Happy 230th birthday America.

Man it was nice having a 4 1/2 day weekend. Very weird starting a work week on hump day. Usually wednesdays in a typical week are the days when I start wrapping stuff up for the week. I don't like waiting till Thursday and Friday to get things done, because it always seems like someone needs something urgently done on Thursday or Friday. So I like to have all my earlier tasks completed by the middle of the week. But this work week has been nuts. I came into a mess yesterday. 4 1/2 days of problems waiting for me. I knew it was going to be a rough day when I didn't even have my key in the door to unlock my office before someone walked up and asked for assistance.

Watched Walk the Line on Monday. Good movie, but drawn out. Ok we get it. Johnny is strung out on pills and June doesn't want to marry him. MOVE ON. Seriously, that was like 75% of the movie. The beginning part with Johnny as a young boy with his brother was pretty powerful. Didn't know Johnny had such a rough childhood. What amazed me is how down to earth June and Johnny were. At least the way they were portrayed in the movie. Do you think Tim McGraw and Faith Hill cook their own Thanksgiving dinner? I don't think so. I guess it was a lot different back then. In order to really make it, it took years and years of hard work. Now, with modern technology, a band can be discovered, hyped, exploited and forgotten about in about a year. People can become millionaires overnight. Seemed like a really long, hard road for Johnny Cash to get discovered.

Rock Star Supernova is awesome. I tuned it a little late, but I watched the last hour or so. Tommy Lee, along with Gilby Clarke (yes that Gilby Clarke) and Jason Newsted previously with Metallica, are starting a new band. They need a lead singer. A show is born.

I don't like American Idol because Ryan Secreast and Randy Jackson are sexually ambiguous, Paula Abdul is nuts and I want to punch Simon in the nuts. But Rock Star has Brook Burk as a host. WOWOWOWOW. And while Tommy Lee is a little nuts, and way too overdramatic, the songs he contestants sings are more to my liking. I don't want to hear some effeminent hack belting out Barry Manalow songs. But some hot Canadian chic, belting out a Nickleback song and some bizarre looking girl who looks like Satan singing Nirvana tunes...Hell yeah!!!

I'll go on record right now. I think Jenny is the hottest woman on the show. She's like a hotter, more womanly version of Avrille Lavigne. I think Dana has the best female voice, and I think Matt and Phil have the best voices of the male contestants. Oh and Dave Navarro. Can you shut up for 2 seconds so someone else can speak? I think a guy will ultimatly win. I can't see a young woman rolling with Tommy Lee and his crew. Sooner or later, Tommy's giant penis will cause a lawsuite of some sort. Please for the love of god, pick a guy to win. If this show were on in the fall or winter, I probably wouldn't watch because I'd be busy watching Lost, House, 24 and Prison Break. But since there is so little to watch during the summer, it's pretty entertaining. Watch the show. They sing songs that just about everyone knows. You'll be wingmilling off your couch and playing air guitar before you know it.
