Hey folks, is it hot enough for ya? YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!
So today, on one of the hottest days of the year, NCAA 2007 comes out.
Last night, I got home from work, Rachel was working late, so I planned on watching season 1 of Entourage on DVD. I made myself a little snack, listened to a little Don and Mike, did the daily online Sudoku, and poof!!! No electricity. The power went out, then sputtered like it was trying to come back on. I thought back to a few summers ago, when the power grip that supplies power to the northeast crapped out and plunged NYC and a few other places into darkness. The power continues to sputter, then went dead completely. I call Rachel at work and ask if she has power. She says she does. I call my mother-in-law and she said she was out, but when she left the house, they had power. Hmmm. So I go outside and talk to a neighbor and they confirmed they had no power either.
So I went back inside, and realized that everything I do, requires power. Ok my laptop is on, but no power to my cable modem or wireless router, so no way to surf the web. No TV, no XBOX, I couldn't even really go down into my basement to my man room, because there are no windows down there. It would be pitch black. I considered playing the DVD in my laptop, but decided to power the laptop down to conserve the battery. So I sat outside for a while, reading a book on the front porch. One thing I realized is that I could hear a lot of ambient noises I never heard before. Like people talking, dogs barking, kids playing, birds calling. I guess those sounds normally gets drowned out by the whirring of everyones central AC units running.
About an hour later, the hall light came back on, as well as the rest of the power. WOOHOO!!! TV!!! DVD PLAYERS!!! XBOX!!! The WEB!!! One of the most boring hours of my life. At least if Rachel has been there, she would have been some company and we could have "entertained" one another. Not for the full hour, more like 2-3 minutes, but it would have been a nice diversion. That's right call me Mikey No Stamina.
The Yankees have been rumored to be going after Bobby Abreu, Reggie Sanders, Alfonso Soriano, and Carlos Guillen. Frankly, other than Soriano, I don't want any of those guys. Abreu, had 1 maybe 2 good seasons, Carlos Guillen is batting like .225, Reggis Sanders will bring that bad mojo from Kansas City. We don't need some washed up hacks. Especially if it's going to cost us someone young like Melke Cabrerra, who I like more and more every day.
Soriano is the exception. I loved when he was with the Yankees. Everytime he came to plate, it was so exciting. He's the one guy I really felt could hit a home run at any point in a game. Frankly, I wish the Yankees never got rid of him in the first place. I don't like A-Rod, didn't like him as a Mariner, didn't like him as a Ranger, don't like him as a member of the Yankees. He's such a drama queen, it's not even funny. Jason Giambi came back from cancer, the whole steroid scandal and its playing some of the best baseball in his life. Meanwhile A-Rod is complaining because of all the pressure he feels. What about all the pressure you are putting on your teammates, who have to pick up your slack. Last night, the Mariners intentionally walked Giambi to pitch to the $25 million dollar man A-Rod. Turns out it was the right decision to. A-Rod went down swinging. I don't think he even made contact with any of the pitches. If I remember correctly, he wiffed all three times he swung.
I also don't want another pitcher from the NL coming to the Yankees. It's been proven time and time again (see Carl Pavano, Esteban Loiza, Kevin Brown and to a lesser extent Randy Johnson) that the hitters in the AL are much better as a whole. NL pitches who win 15 games in the NL, will be lucky to win 10 in the AL. The fact is that the AL is the stronger, and more dominant. I wouldn't mind seeing Dontrell Willis coming to the Yankees, but thats where I draw the line. The Yankees haven't had a really dominant left hander since Andy Pettitt left a few years ago. And with the whole subway thing, "D-Train" would fit right in!

I gues arod was too busy applying his purple lipstick to swing. What's up with his lips?
As far as Dontrelle, I think the D-train would look great puling into teh Willets Point station!
Rachel is freaked out by his purple lips as well.
I want Dontrelle to come to the Yankees just so I can "DOOOONTREEEELE" in my woman of the south voice.
there was a picture of him (a-rod) sunning himself in central park on the cover of the post today.
