Zarqawi's Brand of Evil

The overhwleming sentiment is that the war in Iraq is pointless. I think Steve Harrigan of Foxnews puts things into perspective...

Brand of Evil

I don't believe that the sentiment of Iraq is useless. Most people can't debate:

1) Saddam being gone is not a bad thing.
2) Zarqawi being gone is also not a bad thing.
3) We now control the 3rd largest oil reserve in the world.

I feel what most people think we are not warrented to be in Iraq when:

1) Osama caused the 9/11 terror strike, not Saddam.
2) None of the highjackers were from Iraq.
3) Saddam has put a price on Osama's head for trying to expand into Iraq after 9/11.
4) Saddam has killed everyone in Iraq who has attempted to start an Al Queida (spellling) cell.
5) 4 years later we still have not found any proof of WMD's. a)which was the second reason for going into Iraq. b) the 1st reason was that Saddam was sheltering terrorist but the 1st 4 points prove otherwise.

I could go on and on. But being in Iraq is not pointless. It is just a total destraction from us going after Bin Laden. It allows our gov't to do a lot of things that you would not agree to if Al Quedea (spelling) was wiped out.

Once again. Bring on the Blood Wine!!!! Ka'Plah

That's laughable that Iraq doesn't have ties to terrorist or any link to Sept 11th or terrorism. Mohmamad Atta met with members of the Iraqi security council in 2001. But I'm sure Atta was just playing Texas Hold'Em when they all met. Plus Sadaam has a history of using chemical weapons against his own people. That's not terrorism? And while folks like Zarquawi (SP?) may not be from Iraq, he was the ring leader of Al Quaeda IN IRAQ. So how can anyone say that Iraq isn't a terrorist threat? Sadaam had guys working for him with the nickname "Chemical Ali". He didn't get that nickname because he was making baking soda volcanoes and doing silly science experiments with kids. He was in charge of making chemical weapons for Sadaam and his goons.

The president clearly said shortly after September 11th, that this was a war on TERROR, not a war against Afghanistan, Osama Bin Laden or the Taliban.

Very little was done between 1992-2000 to stop the spread of these massive terrorist groups that are now prevolent in dozens of countries around the world. The president is stuck with the job of cleaning up 8 years of neglect. And yes, he's taken a lot of heat over it, because it hasnt been pretty.

People are so short sited. Did they honestly think we were just going to march in, find Osama, find Sadaam and get out? Did people honestly think that once that happened, that everything would just magically be ok?

If John Kerry were president, he would have looked like a hero. He would have withdrawn the troups from Iraq, and everyone would say what a humanitarian he is. Sure withdrawing troups from Iraq would spare the lives of some of service men and women. But what happens a year from now? 5 years down the road? When Al Quaeda gets their ducks in a row and plan another massive terror attack? The president may not be making everyone feel warm and cozy like Bill Clinton did, but he is not afraid to take a decisive stand and stay the course.

I could go on all day as well. I'm just tired of the anti-war/anti-Bush sentiment. Someone finally has the balls to stand up and fight terrorism, and he gets lambasted for it. Hugging a tree, and singing around a campire like Al Gore isn't going to stop terrorist attacks. Yes, war is ugly and disturbing to watch and hear about, but it's a necessary evil.

I agree this is a war on terror not bin laden. But don’t you find it strange that Thailand the largest haven for terrorists right now we are not there? Or fighting terror in Tibet, or Korea? Why, because Thailand does not have the 3rd largest oil reserve in the world. We are in Iraq because W is pissed that Saddam put a price on his dad’s head, for oil, a distraction from not getting Bin Laden, and lastly because we could take Iraq.

Now next, Saddam killing the Shiites was not terrorism. It was genocide. Terrorist is the use of force to strike fear into the enemy, in order to cause a political change. Saddam and Chemical Ali we not trying to terrorize the Shiites they wanted to control their population in his country. Saddam = genocide and that is why I agree Saddam being gone is good. Zarqawi was sent into Iraq to cause terror and prove al quaeda is not dead. And that is why him being gone is good.

Next, John Kerry has nothing to do with nothing, he is not president so it doesn’t matter. What I do want you to think about if someone was in your country occupying your streets? I bet if someone came up to you and said we should be fighting them because you are American who are they to occupy your streets, I bet you would start to fight as well.

Now, as far as being anti-war I am not. I just feel that we can better direct our effort. We should not be using the military for this. This should be a CIA, and special forces fight. Since what we are fighting are small terror cells. Israel is the best at fighting terror and why are the successful? Because they operate in small groups with a huge web of intelligence behind them. Right now we are taking in so much intel and can’t act on it because they can’t sift through it fast enough. Israel also does not limit their intelligence community from dealing with criminals for intel. Throwing the military at a problem like this very costly in life and fiscally. Beef up our intelligence community and then expand our special forces (all of them delta, seals, green berets, force recon). Then give them the tools and then a proper intelligence people analyst behind them who are able to put the pieces together faster. Give the SPECOPS their tools. Lastly, it is easy to track major troop movement ever see the Movie Black Hawk down. 4-13 men can move under the radar much better than a Platoon or a division. This is not the best way to fight terrorism, let’s follow Israel’s lead.
