School Days...

So last night was my third week of class. The first week of class we had 6 people in my class, along with 2 translators for the deaf girl in my class. In week 2, we had 5 people along with the 2 translators. Last night, there were 3 of us. The deaf girl and another girl didn't show up. Last week was the last week you could drop a class and get a full refund, so I wonder if they dropped the class or if they were just sick. We started out with 3 students yesterday, and one of them had to leave to pick someone up at the airport. So the last 2 hours of class it was me, one other student and the professor. I can't really complain because with so few people, I get all my questions answered. I just miss seeing everyone elses work. The deaf girls work in particular was quite good. When I signed up for the class, I expected most of the students to be slightly older folks like me, who have been out of school for a while. But in actuality all the other students are like 19 years old. It's amazing how immature, naive and unpolished 19 year olds can be. I guess wisdom really does come with age. Being in that class makes me feel so old. I'd guess the professor and I are around the same age. I learned last night that she did her undergrad work at Dartmouth and got her masters in Australia. Also learned that she is a vegetarian. Since I've never met a vegetarian I can get along with, I'm a little nervous. But I guess I can handle just about anyone in small doses. We got our first assignment back yesterday and I got a 95 on it. Im pretty pumped. I wish I did this well when I was in school for real. The assignment we had to present this week seemed to be well received. The rubber duck and seagul photos they were especially fond of. I didn't end up using any of the wooden figures photos. I may use them and experiment with them at a later date. The assignment for this week is landscapes. Something I always liked, but haven't been particularly good at. I'm hoping I can learn some new tricks and improve at it. We looked through about 100 slides last night during class of different landscape photographers work. So I have to come up with 5 landscape shots for next class. Since it's usually dark when I get out of work, I'll be very busy this weekend trying to work in the daylight hours. The new show Medium continues to impress me. I highly recommend it. House is also quite awesome. We've fallen about 3 episodes behind though. Good thing for Tivo. There was a new show on this week on CBS called Numb3rs. I wasn't terribly impressed, but Rachel seemed to like it. Maybe it's my dislike of math and numbers that turned me off.
