Let's Go Falcons!!!

With the Giants out of the playoffs, and the Jets standing a snowballs chance in hell of making it to the Super Bowl, I am for the next month or so, a Falcons fan. Every year at work, we each thrown in $50 and draw a name of a team in the playoffs out of a hat. At first I was a little upset that I got the Falcons. But now looking at the state of the NFC, I think they have a good shot at making it to the Super Bowl. With the injury to Terrell Owens, I think the Eagles with struggle. They won't have the Giants and Redskins to push around anymore. And without T.O. teams with just double cover Todd Pinkston and blitz more to contain Westbrook. T.O. being out there made everyone else on the Eagles offense that much better. Without him I don't see the Eagles going very far. The team that could send the Falcons home are the Packers. Whenever Brett Favre is in a game, magical things seem to happen. So one never knows. I don't think any of the NFC teams will be able to beat the top AFC teams. I think New England has to be the favorite just because they have been there before, whereas Ben Roethlesberger is still wet behind the ears and the Colts just don't jave the kind of defense that can get you to a Super Bowl. I guess in a few weeks, we'll see how right or wrong I am.

This week I like the Seahawks over the Rams, The Chargers over the Jets. The Colts over Denver and the Packers over Minnesota.

So the Yankees finally have Randy Johnson. Im happy, but not overly optimistic. His age and longevity scare me. But better to see him on the Yankees rather than pitching for the Red Sox or other rival. Rachel already purchased tickets to a few Yankees games when they come down to Baltimore. So I hope I get to see the Big Unit pitch. One of my favorite moments was seeing Roger Clemens pitch down in Ledgends Field during a spring training game. Seeing a power pitcher perform in person is a lot more intense live. At home, watching on TV, you don't get a real appreciation of how fast the ball gets to home plate. Plus since Ledgends Field is tiny, I was a lot closer to the field. So I could really hear the ball pop.

Watched a new show on NBC Monday night called Medium. Along with the new Fox show called House, these are my two new favorite shows of the year. I don't know if Medium has enough elements to be a successful show, but the first show was really interesting. Watching CSI last night, I have a new appreciation for that show. CSI Miami and New York just don't come close. The characters on the original CSI are all unique with their own demons, and likable qualities. The characters on the other CSI's just come off as pompous, trying to be overly cool, know it alls.
And I think they overdue the NY accents a little too much. fuhgettaboutit!!!

The lead in the House had a successful show in Britiain called Geeves and Wooster. Hugh Laurie. He's a Brit.

The Falcons could make the SB, but good luck versus any of the really good teams in the AFC. And if Green Bay wants to knock off Atlanta they have to do it on th Road as Atlanta has Home Feild agaisnt everyone but Philly.

I hope this year when we go down to Spring training I get to see Pedro pitch uplose, for the same reason. Now I'm gonna bitch, a few weeks ago everyone is getting all over teh Mets since Pedro is so old and losing it and is bound to break down, but we hear nothing about the yankees and the 8 years older no ligamnet in his right knee Big Unit.. Ughh!

Ani, I had no idea he was British. He's so brash and sarcastic on the show, but that's what makes House so great hehe. He does a good job of sounding American.

Niel, ESPN was pretty critical of the Randy Johnson move last night as well. All his knee problems scare me. I think the reason the Mets get more heat is because the Mets have a lot of gaping holes to fill whereas the Yankees are trying to put together the final pieces of a puzzle. The Yankees aren't looking to build a team around Randy Johnson like the Mets are hoping to do with Pedro.
