Football and Whitey....
Even though my predictions from Friday left me 1 for 4, I'm glad to see the Jets make it to the next round. They will have their hands full against Pittsburgh, but hey, stranger things have happened. Quite a few of the Steelers haven't played in a few weeks, so they could be a little rusty. What I wasn't happy about was Minnesota beating up on Green Bay. What made me even more unhappy about Minnesota winning is the manner in which they did it. Randy Moss is the poster child for what is wrong with professional athletes. The guy has amazing talent and natural ability. But depending on which side of the bed he wakes up on, he can either go out there and give 110% or he could could just drag his feet and not do a whole lot all game. It's sad when people with so much talent, choose to be lazy like that. Plus I was upset to see Brett Favre lose. He's one of my favorites, and I think with all the frustration and hardships he has gone through the past few years, he may call it quits.
So on friday night Rachel and I went to see White Noise. For me, the movie doesn't really live up to the hype. It's not a bad movie, but it's very slow in the beginning and gets very repetitive. There aren't a lot of elements to the story. And man has Michael Keaton gotten old looking. Hard to believe he used to be Batman. Part of the problem with the movie is all the stupid kids going to see it. I know I was once a stupid kid, and I'm still pretty stupid at times, but I don't think I ever ruined a persons movie going experience by talking, laughing and screaming.
On a brighter note, we got around to watching the DVD of Standing Tall. While this was no Oscar winning film, it was very entertaining. I hate to say it, but the Rock is one kick ass action star. I hope he doesn't take the route of Vin Diesel. While sitting through the 30 minutes of commercials and trailers for White Noise, we saw a trailer for this new Vin Diesel movie due out in the spring. It's basically Vin Diesel's Kindergarden Cop. Except he's an ex special forces guy assigned to protect a family. So they have him doing the whole changing dirty diapers, getting thrown up on thing. How soon before he stars with a wacky sidekick like Jimmy Kimmell in a holiday film similiar to Jingle All the Way. And more importantly, how soon before he runs for governor of California? I mock the movie here, but watch it make $100 million dollars when it's released. I can see horny moms taking their kids to see the movie.
It's kind of neat when all the Christmas stuff is put away. I feel like my house has doubled in size. It's amazing how much extra space there is when I don't have to walk around giant nutcrackers, a dancing Mickey Mouse and a 8 foot Christmas tree. It didn't take long for stores to rip down the Christmas decorations and go right to Valentines day. Stupid Hallmark holidays. If it were up to Hallmark, people would send thank you notes, to thank people for sending THEM a thank you note. Thank YOU for thanking ME for the thank you note!!!

Those pesky kids and sometimes "adults' are one of the reasons I don't enjoy the theater experience much.
Glad you liked Standing Tall. Hopefully it helped any negative thoughts you had towards The Rock. I luvre wrestling so I am biased:)
And up here the Valentines and Easter decorations were up New Year's weekend.
