In the interest of fairness...
With all the controversy and the media storm surrounding the film Fahrenheit 9/11, I thought it was only fair to promote a documentary maker who has a lot less exposure than Michael Moore. Millions of people will flock the movie theatres this weekend, I wish everyone saw the trailer for Michael Moore Hates America before doing so. If you plan on seeing the movie, please view this trailer first.
I don't know how popular Michael Wilsons film will be, but I definitely agree with his sentiment. It kills me to hear so many people so down about the United States, the very place they call home. I think my favorite part of the trailer is when Michael Wilson is talking to an imigrant who says something like "The best thing about the United States is that each individual is the architect for his or hers own destiny." Ok that part is cool, but not as cool as when they catch Michael Moore in a lie about not appearing in anyone elses films.

I'm dying to see both films, actually. I'm obviously a left leaning liberal, and getting more so every day. But liberal media outlets are so outnumbered that they feel the need to be louder and less objective generally. I have a feeling Michael Wilson has as much of an agenda as Michael Moore does, but may take a more measured approach and seem more reasonable.
I seriously doubt someone intelligent enough to market a documentary on the scale he's shooting for is doing this simply out of love for America. His site seems to promote the idea that loving your country means ignoring the cancers that are eating away at it..
Well, I don't know a whole lot about Michael Wilson, but I admire his desire to show people what a great country we live in. Granted news that everything is hunky dorey doesn't really sell, but I for one am tired of hearing how shitty this country is. I'm by no means a world traveler, but I've been to Mexico, central America and Aruba and I see the way the people there live. And in comparison, we have things pretty great here. So I'm tired of all the negativity about how hard people here have it.
And you're right, I'm sure Michael Wilson isnt doing this purely for love of country, but he seems to be a lot more objective than Michael Moore. And he's showing that Michael Moore is as big a hypocrit as the politicians he bashes in his "documentaries". Unfairly quoting people, and using creative editing to make people look foolish is what Michael Moore is all about. And that fine, but he should be open to the same scrutinity. Let someone investigate his life, and his practices just as he has with the NRA, Charlton Heston, Dick Clark and President Bush.
Lets say I tell you that someone we know mutually has been acused by others of doing something. So I say to you "I think its really unfair that Joes Smoes coworkers feel that Joe is guilty of sexual harrasment because he's gay". But then when I am quoted by you the next day it's chopped up and the quote becomes "I think Joe Smoe is guilty of sexual harrasment because he's gay". So my sentiment is completely reversed.
I saw an interview with Michael Wilson and he claims that Michael Moore is guilty of a lot of these practice of creative editing, chopping up quotes and taking words out of context. If this is the case, he's a slanderer and his findings shouldn't be revered as gospel.
Agreed, anyone who takes Moore's word as gospel is an idiot. He never claims to be objective though, so there is that disclaimer before viewing any of his documentaries. He went so far as to say in a recent interview that his primary aim is entertainment, with politics second.
I don't think I've ever claimed that America sucks, and people who bash the Left for saying so are over reacting, I think. My own stance, and that of alot of people I know who lean in the direction I do is that America is a great country that could be greater. We love it and want to see it live up to the promise it was built on, and not get eaten away by greed and corporate interests.
Good point, I didnt notice a disclaimer before Bowling for Columbine, but Im very impatient, so I probably fast forwarded past it. Moore was on Howard Stern this morning and made some good points.
No, I mispoke apparently. I don't think he runs a disclaimer, though he should. I just meant he never claims impartiality or objectiveness, so he's not trying to pass his opinions as hard facts.
I disagree with that Mike. I think he absolutely presents the information in his movies as fact.
